Mark in this movie was appointed as a navy officer, whereas Washington was DEA agent which is known as special team agents in america. They had an illegal business of trasnferring passports and dealing with drugs with Mexican dealers. furthermore, mark and denzel planned to rob a bank because their mentors wanted to do that so and they aimed to steal 3 million dollars and when they ended up having 34.2 millions dollars which was related to CIA American Intelligence . The director of CIA involved in this case and he started interrogating people about his money violently. 

Right after mark and denzel formed a team and fought against the mexican mafia and CIA agent which was Tres Cusler. because of the amount of money, they had they were being attacked by every kind of source and actually mark gave that money to America Navy and that was ceased down there.

Moreover, mark and denzel decided to invite Cia agent and mexican mafia at one place to meet up and they said that they will bring the money with them which they certainly did but ended up destroying all that cash with a full lot of big blast in a car. When this event took place the escort guards of CIA agents and mexican mafias starting to shoot each other and mark and denzel saved themselves and did not carried out any shot on their body.
